When it comes to dating life and finding a partner Vancouver’s North Shore has a lot to offer, in terms of ways to find one another but also a huge variety of orientations and preferences. The entire Lower Mainland is very progressive, open minded and supportive of your desire to find happiness, which is awesome and creates a welcoming safe vibe.
Nowadays of course you can use dating apps like Plenty of Fish or Tinder, but in our opinion the best way to find “someone to be with” is always doing so in person. As you get to see them in front of you and feel their energy while you begin chatting with one another. And lets be honest there are so many intangibles that come along with being attracted to someone that an online profile just can’t provide.
In this article we are going to share our 5 favourite places for meeting singles on the North Shore including North Vancouver and West Vancouver. Let us know in the comments section below how your dating life has gone this summer and if you have “found love” locally here.
Lower Lonsdale / Shipyards
With the high density population and condo living, tons of people are in the area, not to mention the Lonsdale Quay Seabus bringing upwards of 30,000 people daily through the area from downtown Vancouver. Having the brewery district and dog parks also allows for socializing. This is the most hip area of the North Shore without a doubt and you can find lots of public art and wall murals to add depth to the date.
Victoria Park / Central Lonsdale
This area has tons of people walking dogs, playing soccer, doing yoga in the park, hanging out with friends having picnics. Plus all of the amazing eateries and pubs nearby, making it ideal for meeting new people. Especially during the summer months when people are high energy and wanting to stop and chat with you as you pass by them in the park.
Grouse Mountain / Grouse Grind
Being that people come from all over Metro Vancouver to enjoy Grouse Mountain or do the Grind, this is a great place to meet people. Plus for the most part people who do the Grind are health and fitness orientated. If while hiking the mountain you “hit it off” with someone, you can enjoy a meal at the top and have a glass of wine to continue the conversation and then enjoy a gondola ride down the mountain and take in the sunset views.
Horseshoe Bay / Ferry Terminal
This area is the gateway to Vancouver Island and tons of surrounding smaller islands, which makes it a perfect place to meet people as the volume of people that come through the area is diverse. Plus there is a beautiful waterfront park and a few pubs right adjacent to there so you can start a conversation and roll over into having lunch or dinner together. If you end up dating you can use the ferry to see one another and have adventures.
Ambleside Beach / Park
Likely one of the best beaches on the North Shore given the sandy and grassy areas, you will find people here playing frisbee and walking their dogs. On top of this you get a nice mix of people from West Vancouver and North Vancouver, which makes the vibe fun as both cities have slightly different cultural norms. There is also a cafe here where you can enjoy some eats and beverages if you are enjoying yourself chatting with a new person.
