Having been open for quite a while now, Streetcar Brewing is really becoming a local mecca for awesome craft beer, North Shore made kombucha and fine merch. This beer maker is located in the Brewery District of Lower Lonsdale right close to Lonsdale Quay and The Shipyards development. Accessible by foot, bus, seabus and with plenty of parking nearby and electric vehicle charging stations.
As you walk south down Lonsdale Avenue towards the water and take a left onto Lolo Lane, down a clean and vintage looking back alley, you will find this brewery hidden beside older buildings that were once alive with woodworking and mechanical shops. The green building as you walk into the area has nice windows and stairway caging that reminds us of New York.
Streetcar has somewhat of a speakeasy vibe as the establishment is not front and centre on Lonsdale and you have to look for it, plus the space inside is cozy and lined with wooden kegs, industrial tables and steel stools. There was once an electric street here on Lonsdale called Streetcar 153, which will be on display at the New Museum in the Promenade building by the Polygon Gallery.
You can checkout the fermenting and refining equipment that they use for making the beer and brewing it in the back of the venue, just ask at the front desk in advance to check if it’s okay. One must always be courteous in a local social hub. If you like pizza you can get it by the slice as well as other menu items.
In the near future there will be a charity event at Streetcar with locally made cheeses and craft beer tasters and pints, check that out. And don’t forget to go to North Shore Craft Beer Week events and promos later this year.
For more info you can visit their website or connect with them using social media on Instagram and Facebook. The brewery is located in Lower Lonsdale at 23A 1st Street East and park out front. Turn right off of Lonsdale.
