Vancouver has some of the best places to go out for eats and drinks not only anywhere in Canada but around the world, and with a varied and wide reaching cultural identity it means an abundance of places to choose from. Here in North Vancouver we have a special mix of places to eat at with tons of Persian, Italian, Seafood, Casual Fine Dining, Pubs, Bars and more to check out. Every day of the week there is something going on with happy hour drink specials and food promotions. Now that covid is coming to an end restaurants are really stepping up their loyalty and retention programs which makes for an awesome experience for consumers.
In this article we get to chat with up and coming Instagram food influencer Rose Love who posts tons of content of delicious looking food while also doing contests and promotions for the many brands that she works with. Her background is banking and early childhood education, but her real love is food and culinary culture. How did you get started being a foodie influencer and what do you like about the North Shore culinary scene?
My name is Rosanna (aka Rose) and I am a local Foodie Instagrammer. My passion for food started when I was in university, I dined out most of the time, I read restaurant reviews via Yelp and I realized I wanted to do something similar in which I can share my honest review and recommendations for people who wanted to eat out. Until 2 years ago, when my younger sister told me “young generations” use Instagram, and so I registered my first ever IG account @with.rose.love. North Vancouver is a community that is widely known for its thriving and exciting food scene, lots of comfort food spots that I regularly visit because you just can’t recreate those dishes at home! With more restaurants and café openings and re-openings after the pandemic, I can’t wait to explore all those interactions connecting food with the community and culture.
What are some of your favourite restaurants in and around North Vancouver and why?
This is always a tough question, I love wide ranges of cuisine especially seafood and coastal tapas. Seaside Provisions is one of my favourite restaurants, they have unique menu items that you can’t find elsewhere.
Another local restaurant that I love is Hamaei Japanese restaurant in Westview. A very authentic Japanese sushi place, everything is very good and fresh, and most of all, they are kid friendly!
How do you balance being a parent and having a career alongside your love for food?
Being a mom is the most challenging but rewarding job in the world (especially with 3 kiddos). Since food and photography have always been my passion, I feel accomplishment through sharing my food adventures and engaging with foodie friends on Instagram. I feel my kids sharing the same passion with food as I do, we love enjoying the food together. Oh, and they are my best partners for social media content.
Who are some of the foodies on Instagram that inspire you to do what you do?
There are so many amazing local foodie accounts on Instagram, but the first foodie who inspired me is @tea.time.for.2, she has an elegant collection of afternoon-tea reviews in Vancouver on her page, she also brought me to my very first tasting @twgteaca.
Outside of your love for food and blogging what do you get up to in your personal time?
In the morning, I am an ECE (early childhood educator) at a pre-school in North Vancouver. In the afternoon, you can find me in parks and trails with my 3 kids. And I spend my evenings watching movies on Netflix.
