Given the stay at home requests and the state of the world literally every fitness or yoga brand is now doing at home video streaming exercise workouts for their clients. But before all of this there were already brands like Peloton and Mirror doing this exact concept. Which gave them a huge advantage in terms of market share, while box gyms and chain yoga studios are now suffering very hard.
We live in a different world nowadays where people want fitness on demand in the comfort of their own home or office, while sometimes going to workout in person at a physical location. With that said, we are excited to have had the opportunity to speak with a North Vancouver fitness professional who is doing fun interactive workouts online named Corine Latreille of Fitnastika. She has performed with Cirque du Soleil so you know she’s legit.
How did you get started with your business and what do you like about operating in North Vancouver?
When my husband and I retired from our acrobatic career in Cirque du Soleil we knew we wanted to share our passion and lifetime experience in athletics with the public. Our business is fairly new to the North Shore but part of what makes North Vancouver unique is all of the health and fitness enthusiasts. Plus people are so friendly and down to earth. Bonus, our studio is so close to home!
What can you recommend for people who are new to at home workouts and want to watch your streams?
There’s so much you can get out of an at home, body weight workout with zero equipment. I try to keep things uplifting and creative so we can all have fun! But I’m definitely one to address form and quality of movements throughout because I want to keep people safe and coming back for more!
How important is diet to your overall health and what tips do you have for beginners?
I’d say don’t get too influenced by pop culture or trends. I believe in taking it day by day and not putting too much pressure on yourself. Food is fuel but also should also be delicious and make us feel good after eating it.
Tell us about your career before doing fitness, how much fun was Cirque du Soleil?
I first saw Cirque on TV when I was 7 years old and from that day forward it was my ultimate dream to be on stage with all of those artists. The amazing thing is that my dream came true and I performed on Cirque du Soleil’s Koozå (main photo) for almost 7 years. I loved every minute of it. And that’s where I met my husband!
In your spare time outside of running the business what do you do for activities?
Being in nature with my husband and two little sons. We love the North Shore trails and the kids love throwing rocks in to the ocean. Endless entertainment!
Is there anything else you might want our readers to know about you or your business?
We believe movement is for everyone. Whether you have a solid fitness practice, are picking it up after a hiatus or formal workouts are new to you, there is something for everyone. Our team of trainers find great pleasure in watching people develop confidence in their capabilities. Each of us has different backgrounds and specialties, because of that offer a wide range of training from injury rehab, general fitness, specified athletic training, pre and postnatal fitness and even flexibility and handstand training’s! We’re currently offering virtual group & private training’s until the studio reopens following the Covid-19 pandemic.
