It’s no doubt that Throwback Thursday (#ThrowbackThursday or #TBT) has become a worldwide phenomenon on literally all social media apps. Whether that be Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit or similar. You even occasionally hear it mentioned on local news media channels.
With that said we are stoked for this article as we get to explore some historical photos from in and around the Lonsdale Avenue corridor mainly using images from the North Vancouver Museum and Archives. Which are opening a brand new museum in the Lower Lonsdale Shipyards District later this fall. It’s a great time to celebrate local history and culture. There is so much to Vancouver’s North Shore in terms of things to learn about and explore. Of course before Europeans got here it was a flourishing First Nations hub for trade and commerce with Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh.
Take a walk with us down memory lane and reminiscence about the Lonsdale corridor while giving respect to the original peoples of the land.
