update – the City of North Vancouver has approved development of the lands at the Harry Jerome and Lawn Bowling properties just north of London Drugs, which will include a newly updated Community Recreation Centre
Coming very soon to Central Lonsdale North Vancouver is a spacious new development which will contain retail space for stores, commercial office units, workplace offices, residential living and assisted living for seniors on behalf of Sunrise Senior Living, all situated within the same complex. Now that is forward thinking! We foresee this part of Lonsdale Avenue turning into a mecca for this type of thing ongoing as the close proximity to Highway 1 allows people from Squamish, Whistler, Sunshine Coast, Nanaimo, and West Vancouver to utilize the area for minimizing commuting to and from work. It’s just a matter of time before large corporations from downtown Vancouver move their offices over to the North Shore.
Darwin Construction in collaboration with Perkins+Will Architecture and Colliers Canada are building Lonsdale Square, a beautiful 800,000 sq ft+ complex right here in the heart of the North Shore on Lonsdale. Currently the land is used as a Lawn Bowling Club for senior citizens and members of the community, but from what we have been told that will be moved to another area of the city a few blocks over.
The mixed use building will have over 800 total units of rental, lease, privately owned, assisted living, and other use cases. The developers are creating a truly unified approach to the complex wherein Car Share vehicles will be available on location, a large courtyard will be out front that is 2.5 acres, and of course a spacious roof top terrace for usage by all residents.
The offices alone represent around 90,000 sq ft of available space in a cutting edge world class building. The desire is for these offices to attract large worldwide companies and at the same time add to the Green Necklace for the city which allows an area to walk through the premises and continue exploring the vibrant and culturally rich culinary areas around Lonsdale Avenue.
The development will be located between 21st and 22nd street on Lonsdale.
