If you are visiting North Vancouver as a tourist on vacation or living locally, chances are you have considered renting or buying an electric bike for your commutes to and from work or school. Nowadays the range on e-Bikes is quite a long distance and the batteries have tons of power, compared to previous years. They are becoming much lighter and easier to use as well as faster charging. Overall eBikes are establishing themselves as a truly viable transportation solution for people in and around the Lonsdale Avenue corridor and across the North Shore. Especially with the City of North Van pilot project that hopes to get eBike sharing programs setup throughout the city centre from Upper Lonsdale through Central Lonsdale and down to the Lower Lonsdale Shipyards District.

Some great places to enjoy your electric bike are at the waterfront by the Chiba Japanese Garden and the BCIT Marine Campus going along the boardwalk past Lonsdale Quay and into the new Shipyards development. From there you can walk your bike down the Burrard Dry Dock pier and checkout sunset views of the downtown Vancouver core. Depending on the eBike you get it may even be versatile enough to allow you to do some downhill mountain biking or cross terrain adventures. If you decide to go up Lonsdale Avenue you will need the extra power from the electric motor as it can be quite a trek using pedal power.

Before buying an eBike for yourself consider renting one from the many local shops who will provide the service to you and have been outlined below. In fact, North Vancouver was home to the first eBike rental business anywhere in Canada dating back to 2013. It makes sense though, as the North Shore has tons of hills and augmenting your peddling needs with electric power would make it easier to get around. If you get a high end version of this bike you may even be able to go over the Lions Gate bridge into the downtown core using one charge to explore Stanley Park and the seawall.
