When it comes to comfort food and delicious flavours nobody does it better then our friends at Burgoo Bistro in Lower Lonsdale North Vancouver.
Located literally 2 minutes from the Lonsdale Quay Seabus at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue adjacent to the Polygon Gallery, they have an awesome patio for summer vibes and a well decorated and welcoming interior for feasting all year round.
This time of year as the weather gets cold and we near Christmas, the desire to enjoy comfort food increases. Check this restaurant out with your friends and family to satisfy those cravings with delicious food. Yummy!
We sat down with Erin Michell who is the Communications Manager of the eatery to learn more about the business for our readers. Check it out below.
Why did you choose North Vancouver to operate Burgoo and what do you love most about it here?
We chose North Vancouver because it had a charming, small community feel to it, which we loved. It continues to grow but we feel it remains a great neighbourhood in which to operate and be apart.
What are the most popular menu items that you are selling currently and our readers should know about?
What we are most excited about at the moment are our daily Blue Plate features. Each locations chef gets to express their creativity in preparing delicious new recipes each week. Some popular examples of our Blue Plates have been Smokey Louisiana Barbeque Ribs and Honey Dijon Rosemary baked chicken wings. Guests can always count on Bistro Classics such as our Afterschool Special, Macaroni and Cheese, or French Onion soup to warm their souls, especially on a cold and rainy day!
How do you find that the local transportation system(s) impact your workflow or employees?
We are lucky to be located so close to a transportation hub, which makes local neighbourhood travel simple for our guests and team members alike. Being close to the Lonsdale Quay and The Shipyards also brings many tourists and guests across the Burrard Inlet who are visiting Vancouver by cruise ship. The development and changing dynamic of our neighbourhood may bring increased traffic and congestion, but we hope it brings with it, many new neighbours and visitors to the North Shore.
What are some of the first questions that new customers like to ask you?
Most commonly, the first questions we receive from new guests are “What is Burgoo” and “What kind of food do you serve?”. Burgoo is a southern stew made with slow cooked beef, lamb and ham, lots of veggies like lima beans, okra and corn, and smokey, garlicky flavours. We bring together the best comfort food recipes in the world in one place so that guests can have the experience of hearty home cooking in a comfortable environment where we take care of them like they were in our own home!
In your personal time outside of business operations, what do you get up to for activities locally?
We all enjoy strolling along the seawall, embracing what the North Shore mountains offer and exploring the local businesses and events, which make North Vancouver the beautiful City that it is.
Is there anything else that you might want our readers to know about you or the business?
Though we love providing our guests with comfort food classics, we have a wide variety of items on our menu including fresh salads, tasty desserts, brunch available on weekends, and a kids menu. Burgoo offers year round seasonal menus. Come on down and try one of our crafted cocktails, or selected beer and wine options to pair with your meal for the ultimate Burgoo experience.
