It’s that time of year again, when we go out trick or treating with our kids, or attend a local pub with friends to celebrate Halloween. In North Vancouver most of the bars, pubs and restaurants have Halloween themed events going on, so you can rest assured no matter where you end up, you will have fun.

The big things to keep in mind, just like every year, are to be aware of your surroundings, go out in groups trick or treating, don’t eat your candy until get back to your house and have a chance to look at it closely, cross the roads safely and plan a safe ride home to avoid any form of drinking and driving.

Read this City of North Vancouver safety guide to have a memorable time.

Keep in mind as well that setting off fireworks in the City and District of North Vancouver require special permits that you need to have in advance, and there are set times to allow discharge of fireworks between 6pm and 10pm.

In Lower Lonsdale this year the Business Improvement Association has organized trick or treating with many of the local businesses between the hours of 330pm and 530pm so you can get out with your kids early in the evening and enjoy some treats from local entrepreneurs.

There is a list of participating merchants and a map to check out.

CBC News published last night a list of the best places to go trick or treating in Metro Vancouver and they outlined the 900-block Clements Avenue and 900-block Viney Road of North Vancouver as the most fun neighbourhoods.

North Shore News also has a roundup of some excellent tips for the evening.

No matter what you get up to this Halloween 2019 please do so safely.
