In this article Rose Love (@with.rose.love) shows us what’s new at Nemesis Cafe beside The Shipyards and Lonsdale Quay Market. Right across the street there will be a new museum opening sometime at the end of this year or into 2021 highlighting our local culture through various displays and education spaces.

Located on the bottom floor of The Polygon Art Gallery in North Vancouver, you can find a window with a blue upside down heart icon that looks like a spade,  this is where one of Vancouver’s most famous and popular coffee brands exists. With fresh roasted coffee daily and pastries and baked goods made in house.

Unfortunately due to covid, they are currently doing take out only. But while you line up for their coffee or Dope Bakehouse pastries, you can take a peek through their large glass windows at their cozy high end soft wood Japanese inspired design, and a huge wall displaying signature vinyl records! Let’s see what this aesthetic café likes about operating in North Vancouver?

“North Vancouver is an amazing location, we enjoy the community, especially because of it’s close proximity to the waterfront. We love to bring our high standard coffee to people in Lower Lonsdale, and we wanted to make it more accessible for the people across the North Shore. Most of all, we found that this Polygon location is just a perfect fit for Nemesis.” said Jamie (Social media director)

Did Nemesis North Vancouver location close down during the pandemic?

“Yes we were closed in mid-March. During covid we were hit just as hard as other businesses, lots of bills to pay, lots of staff layoffs which we find very difficult and painful. We’ve just re-opened recently for coffee and pastries offering take-out only, we do not offer any dine-in at the moment and have limited our menu, we will re-evaluate again in the Fall/Winter, the health safety of our customers and staff remain our top priority.”

What are the most popular items coming out of your Dope Bakehouse?

“Our most popular items are chocolate toffee croissants (milk chocolate pastry cream and salted caramel), strawberry butter milk croissant (vanilla pastry cream, strawberry gel, glazed), key lime pie cruffin (key lime curd & vanilla cream filled), and pina colada cruffin (coconut pastry cream & pineapple gel filled).”

Come down and grab their morning coffee and pastries by getting take out at #110 – 101 Carrie Cates Ct in Lower Lonsdale North Vancouver.

One hour ago, we bought 5 pieces from this store. We got home, opened the box and we were very disappointed since the pastries weren’t packed properly and the frosting had spilled everywhere. There was a female Asian employee that was touching another employee’s tattoo while she was packing our pastries which made us feel uneasy and we thought it was unhygienic.
