West Coast Canada’s hip hop and urban culture scene has been booming in the underground sense for many years, with artists like Snak The Ripper, Merkules, Matt Brevner, Caspian, Emotionz and others really paving the way. In the world we live in today everyone can be a globally reaching content creator and share their specific version of hip hop culture using social media and other platforms. Specifically here in North Vancouver we have tons of supporting talent to the mainstream artists of the West Coast in terms of audio and video production but also podcasts.
In this article we get to chat with Sam Burrows from Canadian UnderDogs x GoldVancity to learn more about what they do and how they uplift artists and musicians developing themselves in local hip hop. You can find them filming video segments in and around the North Shore and being really active on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. For more information you can contact them at the bottom of the article feature below to get quotes on Rolex watches, Diamond jewellery and Grillz as well as to be featured in one of their upcoming YouTube segments. At Lonsdale Avenue Magazine we want to highlight all aspects of the North Shore community and this is definitely part of it as the worldwide footprint of hip hop culture rises and transcends borders and languages.
How did you get started with Canadian UnderDogs x GoldVancity and what do you like about operating in North Vancouver?
I was born and raised in North Vancouver, and when I decided to make my company we went 100% organic with where I came from and how I was raised, and this is represented in all of the content and marketing we create, I try and highlight North Shore locations like the Cleveland Dam, when we showcase local West Coast talent. In the past pre covid we also did lots of events and parties and hope to get back to that again soon.
What are the products and services you offer to customers through both of your companies?
For Canadian Underdogs, we provide a platform for underground or upcoming artists from the local Canadian Hip Hop scene to showcase talent that may not have the the opportunity to get noticed as much as they possibly should, and for GoldVancity we provide the lowest price in Gold and Jewellery for artists or anyone looking for some nice gold or diamonds, we even have access to some really unique Rolex watches.
What makes you different from other entities in the media and jewellery industry?
We always provide the lowest prices possible for the jewellery and the best customer service possible. We are not trying to gouge our customers but rather give them sound value for money spent so we can attract other customers through those who are satisfied with their purchases. Canadian Underdogs is all about supporting your local hip hop creators and helping each other grow. Both of the companies tie together as people want to feel good about how they look and represent themselves.
Before operating Canadian UnderDogs x GoldVancity what were you doing for work or a career?
I grew up collecting Gold so it begin as a hobby before I took it seriously as an entrepreneur, plus I have family members who are successful jewellers. And my love of hip hop culture made me interested in highlighting and supporting local talent. I guess you can say I have always been doing both of these areas for my whole life.
Outside of operating your businesses what do you get up to for activities in your personal time?
I love to ride my Electric Motorcycle around the North Shore and up into the Sea to Sky corridor. On Sunny days you can often find me with my girlfriend cruising around enjoying the views and lifestyle. They bike has excellent torque and acceleration
