What better way to spend the end of the week with your friends enjoying a freshly made local craft beer, watching your favourite sports team, talking shop or similar? For people who live or work in and around the Lonsdale Avenue corridor it is most definitely an exciting time for nightlife and entertainment after work and on the weekends.

The Beer District in Lower Lonsdale is becoming the go to place for enjoying yourself here in North Vancouver on top of the culinary gems in Central Lonsdale. You can walk to a number of local breweries within minutes and of course take the Seabus to the area from downtown Vancouver, opening up social time to a wide network of contacts throughout the Lower Mainland.

In this article we have the opportunity to chat with Matt Beere who is the cofounder and head brewer at Beere Brewing to get to know him, the brand, and the beer better for our readers. This is one you will not want to miss!

Why did you choose North Vancouver to operate Beere Brewing and what do you love most about it here?

I grew up here and I’ve been back living here for the last 10 years. I love the the mountains in our backyard for skiing and biking, great rivers and forests for swimming and hiking, food and breweries, everything you could want is all right here or nearby.

What are the most popular beers that you are selling currently and our readers should know about?

We are very well known for our IPAs and our fruit sours but we are also proud of our lagered beers, pale ales, and stouts.

How do you find that the local transportation system(s) impact your workflow or employees?

The majority of our team uses public transportation to get here. We are lucky to have the Seabus so close  – for staff and customers alike. With how backed up the traffic has been going in and out of the North Shore, this is a serious benefit.

What are some of the first questions that new customers like to ask you?

“Why did you name your brewery Beere?” Well, my dad Craig and I started this brewery together – our surname is Beere. How could we name it anything else?

In your personal time outside of business operations, what do you get up to for activities locally?

I love mountain biking, ski touring, rock climbing, hiking with the dog, fishing, and whatever else I can do in the mountains nearby. When not outside, we have a small but bourgeoning food scene that I do my best to experience.

Is there anything else that you might want our readers to know about you or the brewery?

We are a small family owned and operated brewery that focuses on high quality, fully flavoured, but crushable beers. You can get the best experience by visiting our cozy and casual tasting room and patio, or take away fresh beer in cans or growlers. We have brewery snacks, sandwiches, and 10 different beers on tap.

As well, if you’re familiar with our tasting room, the BC liquor board recently granted us our Lounge Endorsement – this means we are able to pour glasses and sleeves. After 1.5 years of being restricted to flights only, this is fantastic news for everyone.

What are the best ways for new customers to get in contact with you?

You can connect with us on Instagram and Facebook as well as visit our location at 312 Esplanade E in North Vancouver. On top of that we have a website for you to learn more or call us at 604.983.2163.
