When it comes to inspiration for arts and music, North Vancouver and across the North Shore has no shortage of positive energy. With the beautiful mountains, forest, ocean and multiculturalism that we all share. Creating abstract works of art is not always as easy as you would think it is as there is even symmetry in random chaos, so you have to try to be truly abstract. Embracing the energy of the universe as it flows out of you.
In this article we chatted with located artist Tiffany Reid to get to know her better for the community. You can find her work at local offices and she sells artwork directly to buyers. She is very active on social media and tons of fun to interact with. Checkout what we discussed below and if you would like a custom piece of art created she does that as well.
How did you get started with being an artist and what do you like about creating your artwork in North Vancouver?
I’ve painted my whole life but decided to become a professional artist after I sold my first painting randomly on Instagram 3 years ago. I loved creating art but never dreamed that anyone would actually pay money for it! It was so exciting! So from there I built a website and worked hard at developing a following and a brand for myself. I am lucky to say that my studio is in my home in the city I grew up in, North Vancouver. I’ve done a lot of travelling but like a Salmon I swam back home in the end. North Vancouver is a very special place to me. I am truly connected to my community and have loved seeing how much it has grown over the past 35 years. I am honoured to have the opportunity to hang my art in businesses that I’ve seen flourish over the years like Hollyburn Optometry, Centennial Theatre, and CityScape.
What are the works of art that you create for your customers?
I am a contemporary abstract artist offering acrylic paintings that emphasis the connection between nature and the heart of man. I attempt to take you on a emotional and sensorial journey to an unimaginable place. For those wanting something truly unique, I also offer commission services. I would love to hear your story and create a piece that’s truly meaningful to you.
If our readers want to purchase art from you what is the best way for them to do so?
Readers can purchase paintings from my website at: tiffanyreidart.com or if they would like an in person viewing or trial of my art in their home I am happy to arrange that via email at tiffanyreidart@gmail.com or call me to discuss at 778.558.2906.
Outside of being an artist what do you get up to for activities in your personal time?
I have a daughter who is 9 years old so we do a lot of painting together as well. We also love hiking, cooking, playing board games. She is a colourful soul filled with crazy ideas that we love to explore together.
Lastly, is there anything else you might want our readers to know about you or your art business?
It was my husband and daughter who truly inspired me to pursue art. They gave me so much confidence to get myself out there. They encouraged me to meet other artists, apply to galleries, do showings, and to keep painting even when I doubted myself. Love is what has truly inspired my work. They have experienced real loss in their life and without trying, taught me to be resilient and show me what truly matters in life. Losing a loved one can take you to a dark place but they chose love. I encourage those of you who are interested to read “Now Meet the Real Me“. It is wonderful story of overcoming grief and choosing love.
