Griffins Boxing and Fitness is thrilled to announce the launch of Knockout For A Cause (KFAC), a groundbreaking and community-centered boxing event set to take place in North Vancouver on June 6, 2025. This first-of-its-kind fight night brings together contenders from across the North Shore to participate in an unforgettable experience of training, competition, and charitable giving. KFAC uniquely blends athleticism with philanthropy, offering participants the chance to step into the ring while raising funds for important local causes.
A New Way to Support Local Causes
At its heart, Knockout For A Cause is about uniting the community through the power of sport and service. Contenders will represent a wide range of industries and backgrounds, coming together not only to train and compete, but also to give back to local organizations that work tirelessly to support the North Shore. Each contender will have the opportunity to choose a charity close to their heart, ensuring a personal connection to the cause they are fighting for.
Griffins Boxing has partnered with several local charities for this event, including:
- Athletics 4 Kids
- ADAV Society
- Backpack Buddies
- Foundry Wellness
- Harvest Project
- Kidsport North Shore
- North Shore Crisis Services Society
- North Shore Disability Resource Centre
- North Shore Dragon Busters
- North Shore Stroke Recovery Centre
Local charities not yet partnered are encouraged to reach out, as more partnerships will be announced leading up to the event.
Who Can Participate?
Knockout For A Cause is open to anyone who lives or works in North Vancouver or West Vancouver, whether you’re an experienced athlete or a complete newcomer to the sport. No prior boxing experience is necessary—the event is designed to introduce boxing in a supportive and structured environment.
Participants can apply individually, or represent their workplace in what promises to be a fun and competitive showcase of community spirit. The event also encourages friendly face-offs between businesses, offering a unique platform for local companies to engage with one another in the spirit of philanthropy and friendly rivalry.
The Training Process and Commitment
Becoming a contender in Knockout For A Cause is no small feat. Those who sign up must commit to both the training and fundraising components of the event. Each contender is expected to raise a minimum of $2,000 for their chosen charity. While this amount qualifies participants to fight, it does not guarantee a match-up. Final pairings will be determined by a combination of factors, including training progress, experience levels, and the overall pool of contenders.
Training begins in January 2025 at Griffins Boxing Gym, where participants will immerse themselves in a comprehensive boxing program. Using Griffins’ award-winning Boxtech® Glove System, contenders will progress through a series of glove levels as they hone their skills and build strength. The training breakdown is as follows:
- White Gloves® to Yellow Gloves®: 24 classes
- Yellow Gloves® to Green Gloves®: 36 classes
- Green Gloves® to Blue Gloves®: 48 classes
To meet these milestones, contenders must attend at least three classes per week, and will have access to a special membership rate throughout the training cycle. This rigorous yet rewarding process is designed to build confidence, enhance fitness, and prepare participants for the ultimate challenge—stepping into the ring on fight night.

A Platform for Businesses and Organizations
Knockout For A Cause extends beyond the individual—it’s also a call to local businesses and organizations to get involved. Whether through sponsorship, partnership, or contender participation, businesses have a unique opportunity to not only promote team spirit but also contribute to the wellbeing of the broader North Shore community. This event encourages cross-industry camaraderie, with companies facing off against one another in the ring for the benefit of local charities.
“We are fortunate to have such a strong community at Griffins, and Knockout For A Cause allows us to extend that sense of community beyond the gym walls,” says Zoe Peled, KFAC lead and Griffins’ Community Outreach Coordinator. “This event is about coming together, giving back, and connecting the local business community, all while introducing more people to the sport of boxing.”
